There are just two phones on the market that come with titanium: Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra and Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max. Some time back JerryRigEverything put both phones through a comprehensive durability test, and the results showed that the S24 Ultra had strong durability while the iPhone 15 Pro Max suffered some damage. Now the two flagship devices from the South Korean and Cupertino based tech companies have been put through a thorough drop test by another YouTuber, PhoneBuff.
Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max vs Galaxy S24 Ultra drop test
Last year the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the Galaxy S23 Ultra were put through a drop test by PhoneBuff. There are four rounds to the rigorous test. Before we get started, the most recent Galaxy S24 Ultra boasts a Gorilla Armor and a titanium frame for far better durability than its predecessor.
In the first round iPhone 15 Pro Max and Galaxy S24 Ultra are dropped flat on their backs for the drop test. Both phone’s glass back panels were broken, with the S24 Ultra’s damage being more noticeable. The test also damaged the camera lenses. There was no difference in the gadget even with the Gorilla Armor. The iPhone 15 Pro Max won this round according to the YouTuber. In the second round to test the titanium frames, both phones are dropped from a corner. The gadgets sustained small scratches, but the iPhone also began to lose a few glass fragments he ended this round as a draw.
This year, Samsung decided to use a flat-screen protected by Gorilla Armor for the Galaxy S24 Ultra. That being said when it was dropped flat on their front on the concrete floor, it didn’t make a difference. The S24 Ultra’s screen was more cracked and sustained more damage than that of the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The Samsung flagship’s fingerprint scanner and selfie camera both had been compromised. Nothing went wrong with the iPhone. Thus, the Apple gadget won in this round.
In the fourth and bonus round, the iPhone 15 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra were dropped repeatedly, face-down, onto a metal surface, but this time from a higher height than in the previous rounds. After the second drop, the iPhone began to display a vertical line, and by the seventh drop, the screen had completely turned white. Just one more drop causes the Galaxy S24 Ultra to begin to experience its issues as well. It is still completely functioning though, and the YouTuber gives the S24 Ultra the victory in this difficult round.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra receives an overall score of 37 points from PhoneBuff. With 36 points, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is a close second. In the first three rounds, the iPhone 15 Pro Max received a score of 10 out of 10. It was only defeated in the very last and fourth round. Therefore, we believe that Apple’s flagship performed noticeably better than the S24 Ultra. This is due to the fact that you won’t repeatedly drop your phone on a metal surface in the actual world.
