Apps Supported by Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro

The notch that has been a trademark of iPhone designs since the iPhone X is replaced with a brand-new Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. You can watch and perform a tonne of fun stuff on the iPhone thanks to the new pill cutout on the devices. Here is a complete list of Dynamic Island approved apps in case you’re wondering which programmes and features are compatible with the new “island”.

Applications for Dynamic Island (Repeatedly Updated)

There are many programmes and functions on the Dynamic Island that function straight away, despite the fact that it is still in its early stages. As more apps use the Dynamic Island to display ongoing activities and multitasking abilities, we’ll keep this list updated.

Alerts and Other Notifications

Let’s first examine each notification type and other alert that appears on the Dynamic Island.

1. Incoming Calls

Your iPhone will now display an incoming call along with call rejection and answer controls in the dynamic island.

2. Face ID

The animation will now appear in the pill cutout whenever your iPhone uses Face ID to verify you, whether it’s for downloading a new app from the App Store, paying with Apple Pay, Gpay, or anything else comparable.

3. Connecting Accessories (AirPods, etc)

When using AirPods (AirPods Pro, etc.) with an iPhone 14 Pro, the island itself will display the connection status as well as the battery. In this way, the pop-up that currently appears on other iPhones won’t block your view.

4. Recharge

The dynamically enlarged notch on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max now displays the charging status as well as the remaining battery life when your iPhone is connected to a charger.

5. AirDrop
The new AirDrop animation is one of my fave features made possible by the Dynamic Island. You can see it happening right up top when receiving a file via AirDrop. Furthermore, you may view the transfer process by simply holding down on the island for a long time! Finally!

6. The Ring/Silent Mode
While on previous iPhones, the notification will flash up from the top of the screen when switching between the ringer and silent modes using the alert slider. These animations appear on the island with the new iPhone 14 Pro series.

7. Focus Mode
The Dynamic Island animation will now appear when your iPhone switches focus modes. The focal symbol, though, leaves the area. Instead, after a few seconds, it retreats to the left, making the island available for additional uses.

8. AirPlay
If you frequently utilise AirPlay on your iPhone, you’ll find this to be quite helpful. On your iPhone 14 Pro, you can now view the AirPlay status directly within the pill cutout. To rapidly see the device that your iPhone is connected to and to halt the mirroring when necessary, long-press the pill.

9. Individual Hotspot
When you have any devices linked to your iPhone’s mobile hotspot for internet sharing, the island also displays the personal hotspot icon. If you tap on it, you’ll be sent directly to the hotspot settings page where you may modify the password or disable the service.

Activities

10. Constant Contact
The progress counter in the island is now visible on the iPhone 14 Pro while you’re on a call. Waveforms for the audio, both incoming and outgoing, are also shown here. The waveform for the incoming audio is green, which is interesting, but the waveform for your voice is yellow/orange.

11. Timer
The countdown will show up in the pill area if you set a timer on your iPhone 14 Pro. By doing so, you may monitor the timer without constantly returning to the timer app. The pill may be long-pressed to access quick functions like play/pause, and it can be tapped to launch the clock app.

12. Apple Maps navigation directions are now also visible in the Dynamic Island. You can see the distance you need to travel around the cutout area as well as the direction (including turns, etc.)

13. Google Maps
The pill is compatible with Google Maps as well. Google Maps is currently unable to display navigational instructions or distance on the Dynamic Island. It merely displays a navigation icon in its place. Hopefully Google will address this in a later release.

14. Voice Memo (Audio Recordings)
On the iPhone 14 Pro, recording a voice memo now displays a waveform and the amount of time that has passed since the cutoff. You can tap this to launch the voice memos app, or you can long-press to expand the widget and pause the recording or examine the time, among other options.

16. Screen captures
The ability to record your iPhone’s screen now appears in the Dynamic Island, much like voice recordings do. The recording icon (a red dot) will remain on the island after you see a countdown there. To enlarge the widget and end the recording when you’re done, tap on here.

17. Mic and Camera Indicators
On the iPhone 14 Pro, the camera and microphone indicators, which typically appear on iPhones on the right side of the notch, are now visible in the Dynamic Island. Between the pill and the punch-hole cutout on the display, the green dot for the camera and the orange dot for the microphone appear.

Apps for audiobooks and music
The Dynamic Island is where most of the widely used audiobook and music apps are found. A waveform and the album cover for the music that is playing will be visible to you. Additionally, if you connect your iPhone to a HomePod or comparable device, the waveform will be replaced by the HomePod or Apple TV icon. On the iPhone 14 Pro, the following applications are compatible with this feature.

Note: Since the functionality remains the same across these apps, I am simply mentioning the names of the apps below. Describing their functionality with the Dynamic Island would be redundant.

18. Apple Music
19. Spotify
20. YouTube Music
21. Audible (Audiobooks)
22. Overcast (Podcasts)
23. Amazon Music
24. NPR One
25. Soundcloud
26. Pandora

Calling Apps

The Dynamic Island also displays incoming calls made through third-party applications. Other apps may use the capability as well; it is not just available in the default Phone app. In reality, several of the most widely used apps are already compatible with the island because they use Apple’s CallKit to allow calling functions.

Note: I’m only listing the names of the apps below because the incoming call functionality on the Dynamic Island functions identically for every app that makes use of CallKit.

27. WhatsApp
28. Instagram
29. Google Voice
30. Skype
Other Apps and Games

31. Hit the Island
In the entertaining new game Hit the Island, you play Pong against the moving island. In order to earn points, you essentially need to control your paddle and hit the Dynamic Island. The game keeps becoming harder to play as the ball becomes faster, divides into two balls, and your paddle gets smaller.

32. Apollo for Reddit
The free third-party Reddit client Apollo also has some extremely entertaining uses for the island. You can virtually have a pixel animal reside on top of the Dynamic Island while using the programme. There are a total of five animals accessible, however the free edition of the programme only lets you utilise the Cat or Dog. You will need to pay to unlock the paid edition of the software in order to receive the Fox, Axolotl, etc.

All the Apps and Features that Work with “The Island”

All of the apps and features that are currently compatible with the Dynamic Island are listed above. As you can undoubtedly see, the iPhone 14 Pro series is already capable of a lot with the new island. Which Dynamic Island feature is your fave, then? Do you know of any additional apps that we might have forgotten to include in this list? Please tell us in the comments.
