Circle to Search feature was One of the features that got everyone’s attention when Samsung launched its latest Galaxy S24 series earlier this month. With the surprise January Pixel Feature Drop upgrade, Google had previously disclosed the release of this feature. Now, the Circle to Search feature is to be released for the company’s flagship Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro phones, as the search giant announced in an official blog post.
Pixel 8 Series phones received Circle to Search feature
Circle to Search on the Pixel 8 series is reportedly getting rolled out now, according to Google. Numerous Reddit users have also attested to the fact that their Pixel 8 and 8 Pro phones are getting this feature. Some also stated that there are no firmware updates being released by Google. The feature seems to be a server-side flag switch as no download is needed for this. Notably, this feature is now available in several locations.
Additionally, it seems that Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro consumers won’t be getting any notification or indications if the Circle to Search feature is available on their device. Pressing and holding the home button or navigation bar on their smartphones is a way of finding this. The elements and items on the screen can be easily annotated, circled, tapped, or scribbled by users. As a result, search results matched to the user’s query will be displayed. In a blog post, Google additionally showed how Circle to Search can answer questions about products that users see on social media and provide additional information.
Another use case is to effortlessly compare the various options of two restaurants while messaging, just by selecting one of the names and staying on the same screen.
The Circle to Search capability simplifies the process of looking for certain items in visual content seamlessly. It removes the requirement for uploading the screenshot and images to the Google App. Moreover, it’s more user-friendly and better than Google Lens.
