Honor and Porsche Design join forces on 14th Dec for (cutting-edge) smart devices

Remember the time when BlackBerry was still in existence? Now and then, BlackBerry would release a gadget/smartphone built in partnership with Porsche Design, and now it appears that Honor’s turn is finally here.

Honor and Porsche announced worldwide on 14th Dec 2023 that we will see both firms collaborate on future product creation. While it is natural to think that this will take the shape of a smartphone, Honour does create other mobile devices and accessories, so this collaboration might extend beyond smartphones.

Honor and Porsche Design, Best of Both Worlds

HONOUR is a technology pioneer thanks to its extensive and advanced research and development skills. After achieving independence in 2020, HONOUR quickly positioned itself as an industry leader in foldable smartphones and mobile imaging breakthroughs, establishing itself as a significant participant in the smartphone market. HONOR’s product and service portfolio impresses with clever, creative devices that provide a superior user experience and remarkable features, particularly in consumer-relevant categories like as battery life, display technology, photography, and videography. HONOUR has demonstrated the desire and capability to represent the top tier of smart technology.

Porsche Design offers to this partnership its design skills and decades of experience in the luxury category. The brand’s fame and success derive from Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche’s ageless, practical, and uncompromising design philosophy, which not only developed the renowned Porsche 911 but also created the world’s first all-black wristwatch. Porsche Design has almost 15 years of experience in the smartphone industry, having designed and co-developed various high-performance handsets.

Message From the companies

The exclusive partnership with HONOR is a milestone for the further expansion of Porsche Design’s iconic electronics product portfolio. With HONOR we have found the perfect brand partner to drive innovation and offer our customers exciting new products that perfectly combine exceptional design and outstanding performance. We share the same goal to become leaders in the modern luxury segment of smart devices,” – said Stefan Buescher, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche Lifestyle Group.

We are honored to work with a partner like Porsche Design and to explore how openness and innovative collaboration can merge exceptional design and outstanding performance to bring state-of-the-art technology to the premium segment of smart devices. HONOR’s human-centric design melds with Porsche Design’s brand philosophy to create intelligent luxury products that will accelerate the mobile lifestyle of tech enthusiasts and Porsche aficionados alike. This long-term collaboration between HONOR and Porsche Design opens exciting new opportunities to bolster our growth in markets around the world.” – commented George Zhao, CEO of HONOR.

Sidenote

Interestingly, Honor’s former parent firm Huawei had previously collaborated with Porsche Design to manufacture devices such as the Porsche Design Huawei Mate 40 RS and Mate 50 RS, thus their partnership with Honour comes as no surprise. According to the statement, the first jointly developed smart device between HONOR and Porsche Design will be revealed to the public in January 2024 in China.
