Nothing rolls out Nothing OS 2.5.1 Open Beta 2 update for Phone (1)

Nothing has now released Nothing OS 2.5.1 Open Beta 2, an update for the Phone (1) after their first Open Beta 1 release in December. The update includes the latest and most recent security patch from January 2024. The update is only 83.68MB in size.

Nothing is still doing the Open Beta 1 testing for their December release and from today they are also releasing Open Beta 2 as an OTA on Phone (1).

  • Optimised brightness in Night Mode photography.
  • Improved overall smoothness when taking pictures.
  • Optimised sound effects for specific games.
  • Supported pull-down access to Quick Settings for network and connectivity options from the lock screen.
  • Improved compatibility with certain chargers.
  • Optimised background processes – improving the issue of background task termination.
  • Optimised performance when memory is running low.
  • Enhanced fingerprint recognition accuracy.
  • Optimised VoLTE icon display logic in the status bar.
  • Upgraded Google security patch to January 2024.

  • Improved display to correct abnormal notification background colours.
  • Resolved unresponsive Bluetooth icon in the Quick Settings.

  • Improved stability of the System UI.

If you are someone who is interested in testing out the newest software for your Phone (1), then you can easily join the Open Beta program.

Installation Steps for Users with Open Beta 1

  1. Go to System Update: Settings > System > System Update
  2. Click on “Check for update” and proceed with the installation instructions.

Installation Steps for User without Open Beta 2

  1. Install Open Beta 1 – Instructions
  2. Go to System Update as above: Settings > System > System Update
  3. Click on “Check for update” and proceed with the installation steps.

Installation Steps in General

  1. Download and Install the APK from Nothing’s website.
  2. Go to the phone’s System Update: Settings > System > Update to Beta version.
  3. Tap “Check for new version” and follow the on-screen instructions.
