Samsung started releasing the January 2024 security update for its tablets and phones a few days back. A few days ago, the update for the Galaxy S22 was released in a few African and Asian countries. The Galaxy S22 series is now also receiving the update in Europe. Actually, the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S23 families are also receiving the update now.
Firmware versions S91xBXXS3BWL3 for S23, S90xBXXS7DWL3 for S22, and G99xBXXS9FWL9 for S21 corresponds to the update, which is around 400MB in size and fixes many vulnerabilities.
Galaxy S21, S22, and S23 series gets security update of January 2024.
It particularly resolves about 75 vulnerabilities, most of which are rated as “High” priority, indicating that attackers could be able to take advantage of them.
One important patch fixes a vulnerability in Android 11 through 14 devices in “Notification service.” This vulnerability may have given an attacker access to your personal data.
A “High” level vulnerability in the Bluetooth pairing procedure is addressed by another important patch, which prevents attackers from connecting their devices to your phone without your permission.
This update may also contain Samsung’s much expected burn-in screen protection features, however this has not been confirmed. In December, the company said that a fix will be available in their “next update version”. But It’s still unclear, though, if this specific patch lives up to that claim.
