Video sharing platform Vimeo has now released a set of AI tools it claims will revolutionise the industry of professional video creation. The startup is releasing a screenplay generator, a teleprompter for use during filming, and an automatic video editor with the ability to quickly and easily cut out awkward silences and rambling phrases.
Ashraf Alkarmi, chief product officer at Vimeo, recently spoke with VentureBeat about the difficulties Vimeo had while developing the AI Video Suite and the possible effects this might have on the video production business.
The AI industry has become more popular. Alkarmi said, “Every organisation feels a lot of pressure to join the AI bandwagon. Vimeo, he said, was not interested in “just jumping on that bandwagon,” but rather in “delivering value to its customers through AI.”
Alkarmi considers the AI Video Suite to be a paradigm shift in the accessibility of high-quality video production software. “This product launch is literally about democratising the creation of amazing video content, and communicating via video in a way that makes it fast, efficient, and high-quality altogether,” he said.
Quicker and less complicated video making
Vimeo’s new AI Video Suite is designed to make it easier for more people to create and share high-quality videos, with the ultimate goal of improving human connection.
According to Alkarmi, the platform’s user base will develop as more people start using the service, more people get comfortable using the service, and as the quality of uploaded films improves.
The new capabilities, which can be accessed starting next month with Vimeo’s $20/month Standard Plan, streamline and accelerate the video-making process with the help of artificial intelligence. Video scripts of any length and complexity may be generated using the script generator in a matter of seconds. Users are able to “look directly into the camera” since the teleprompter reads aloud their lines while the video is being captured.
That individuals use so many filler words like “um” and “ah” is the greatest shock, as Alkarmi put it. “When you’re done recording with this product, you may click a magic button that displays the number of gap words and filler words you used. With the push of a single button, they vanish.
Streamlining the process of making corporate videos
With more businesses investing in video for marketing, training, and virtual events, this news solidifies Vimeo’s goal of being a one-stop shop for such purposes. Vimeo seems to be banking that its superior video creation and editing options aimed for professionals would help it compete with YouTube and other sites. The corporation may become an even more powerful adversary as a result of the new AI technologies.
According to Alkarmi, Vimeo’s AI Video Suite stands out from the competition since it’s an all-in-one solution that lets users do everything from writing a screenplay to uploading and sharing their films.
When it comes to video hosting and sharing, Vimeo is the only game in town. And we’ve expanded to address issues for a wider range of corporate clients,” he said. We provide the resources for you to make a video from scratch or using a premade design. And then there’s recording, which is by far the most common use of video for things like executive communications, training, and enabling, and just plain old talking to one another.
Alkarmi reported that beta testers have praised Vimeo’s AI video suite, using words like “magical,” “game-changing,” and “transformative” to characterise it. He detailed how much time the software had saved him and how much better his movies were as a result of utilising it.
“It used to take me about two hours to do a really good 10-minute video,” he said. “And now it usually takes me about 12 minutes.”
The ever-evolving state of online video
According to Alkarmi, the marketing, education, entertainment, and internal communications sectors are just a few of the many that may benefit from Vimeo’s AI Video Suite. He predicted that video would overtake text and audio as the primary means of expression and cooperation in the near future.
He argued that video communication should be treated the same as other forms of communication like email, text, and phone conversations. We think it’s the most effective media since it allows everyone to make a video without feeling overwhelmed.
He also alluded to Vimeo’s future goals in the artificial intelligence (AI) field, including integration with third-party AI solutions and more innovation.
What we have in the works for artificial intelligence at Vimeo is quite exciting. The more we discuss it, the more it will reflect who we are as a couple, he promised. We consider expertise in AI to be essential rather than optional in the video creation process. If leaders don’t change with the times and give their staff the freedom to innovate more effectively, they’ll be left behind.
