WhatsApp is the most popular chatting application in the world. In WhatsApp, you can do a lot of things from sharing files to sending money to chatting with your friend. On top of that To improve the user experience, WhatsApp continuously adds new features, such as the ability for users to edit sent messages. One such function is screen sharing, which lets you show the other person your phone’s screen while on a video chat.
Google Meet and Zoom already had screen sharing features. This is for people who have to give a presentation during a video call or want to walk someone through a technical procedure using their screen.
WhatsApp previously didn’t have a screen-sharing feature, but they added this feature. This is good because WhatsApp is often considered a more informal communication medium and isn’t always considered necessary for businesses that prefer to utilize Slack, Zoom, Google Meet, or Teams.
Users who primarily use WhatsApp will now have extra incentives to use it—even for work—thanks to this new screen sharing function. Having said that, I’ve included instructions on how to share a screen on WhatsApp for iPhone and Android below.
Steps to Share your screen on WhatsApp

- Start a 1:1 or group video call with people with whom you want to share screen.
- As the video call starts, at the bottom of the screen you will see a rectangular icon.
- This icon appears as an arrow-topped phone on Android phones. and on iPhones, the icon appears as a screen with a figure in front of it.

- After clicking on this icon, WhatsApp will notify you that the screen sharing will be started and give you a warning about any possible security or privacy issues.
- When you’re ready to share your screen, click “Start now.”
- The screen will be visible to the other people on the call.
- You can use your phone normally after the screen-sharing procedure has started, but be cautious because everyone else on the call will be able to see anything you do.
- When you’re done and want to stop screen sharing, go to WhatsApp and click on the “Stop sharing” button to stop screen sharing the screen.
